ALLISON COOK
Allison Cook is the founder of Better Aging and Policy Consulting and has been a part of EmergingAging since 2012. Initially inspired by caring for her grandparents, working as a home health aide, and volunteering in nursing homes, Allison is truly passionate about creating an equitable, affordable, and quality long-term services and supports (LTSS) system. Her experience spans directly providing care, helping people navigate their health coverage, implementing policies that improve our LTSS system, and advising AgeTech start-ups. This varied background provides her with unique insight into our system and how to improve it. Allison received both her bachelor’s degree in community health and her Master of Public Health from Brown University. |
DONNA DE LEVANTE RAPHAEL Dr. Donna de Levante Raphael is a Social Gerontologist, keynote speaker, public health professional and Alzheimer’s disease educator, researcher and advocate. She currently holds the position of Director of the National Memory Screening Program at the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA). Donna engages AFA’s Medical, Scientific & Memory Screening Board by strategizing and helping launch educational and research initiatives for researchers, clinicians, and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and increase the engagement in the conversations about the importance of early diagnosis in dementia care. de Levante Raphael is a distinguished expert in Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and aging, dedicated to bridging the gap between scientific research and practical health solutions. |
ILANA MITTLEMAN Ilana Mittleman is a Research Project Manager at NYU Langone Health. She supports KDARC, a national research collaborative on aging and kidney disease within the Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research. Ilana’s previous experiences include coordinating a randomized control study which provides a health coach intervention for patients with multiple chronic conditions to prevent hospitalizations and coordinating volunteers and assisting with JASA’s advocacy program for seniors. She graduated from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health with an MPH in epidemiology and a certificate in health of an aging society. Ilana's master's thesis focused on social isolation and loneliness among older adults. In her free time Ilana enjoys knitting and reading. |
JANE CARMODY Jane Carmody, DNP, MBA, RN, FAAN is a Senior Program Officer at The John A. Hartford Foundation, a national private foundation dedicated to improving the care of older adults. As Senior Program Officer, Dr. Carmody works with Foundation leadership and staff to guide and support grant-funded initiatives in the United States in three priority areas: Age-Friendly Health Systems, Family Caregiving, and Serious Illness and End of Life. Her portfolio of grants includes programs to create age-friendly public health systems, strengthen community-based services for older adults, disseminate dementia care programs and resources, and further develop and promote standards and best practices in emergency, surgical, and home-based hospital care of older adults. |
KRISTEN CRIBBS
Kristen Cribbs is Senior Research Director at Alkemi, a consulting firm focused on improving patient access to innovative health care treatments. With over 15 years of experience across diverse sectors, she has led numerous policy and research initiatives aimed at improving health care for older adults and vulnerable populations. Before joining Alkemi, Kristen was the Deputy Director of Educational Services at the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and conducted pivotal research at the VA to standardize and improve palliative care practices system-wide. She holds a PhD in Community Health & Health Policy from the CUNY School of Public Health and an MPH in Sociomedical Sciences, with a specialization in Aging and Health, from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. |
KYLA MCINTIRE Kyla McIntire is a Policy Associate at ADvancing States, the organization representing the nation’s 56 state and territorial agencies on aging and disabilities and long-term services and supports directors. In her role, Kyla provides research, policy analysis, and project management support to the ADvancing States Aging Team’s technical assistance portfolio. This includes technical assistance provided to State Units on Aging related to the Older Americans Act Final Rule. Previously, Kyla was a Peace Corps volunteer in Georgia where she oversaw projects related to education and youth development and recently completed a Master’s of Social Work from Columbia University where she specialized in policy and public administration. |
